UPSC CMS 2024 Selection Process
The UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2024 selection process is designed to evaluate candidates comprehensively across various parameters. It includes four main stages:
Stage 1: Written Exam (500 Marks)
The written exam is the first stage of the selection process. It is a computer-based test consisting of two papers, each carrying 250 marks, making a total of 500 marks.
- Paper I focuses on General Medicine and Pediatrics.
- Paper II covers Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine.
Each paper is 2 hours duration, with multiple-choice questions. The written exam assesses candidate’s medical knowledge and their ability to apply it in practical situations.
Stage 2: Interview (100 Marks)
Candidates who qualify in the written exam are called for the interview stage, also known as the Personality Test. The interview carries 100 marks and is conducted by a panel of experts.
The purpose of the interview is to assess the candidate’s general knowledge, leadership qualities, social behavior, and their ability to make decisions in critical situations. It also evaluates the candidate’s suitability for a career in the medical field within the government sector.
Stage 3: Document Verification
After the interview, candidates must undergo document verification. During this stage, candidates need to provide all the necessary documents and certificates to verify their eligibility, educational qualifications, age, and other relevant criteria. This step ensures that the candidates meet all the requirements as per the official notification.
Stage 4: Medical Examination
The final stage of the selection process is the medical examination. Candidates must undergo a medical fitness test to ensure they are physically and mentally fit for the duties associated with the medical officer posts. This examination is crucial to ensure that selected candidates can handle the physical and mental demands of the job effectively.
Each stage of the selection process is essential to ensure that only the most qualified and capable candidates are selected for the various medical officer positions under the UPSC CMS 2024. Candidates must perform well in each stage to secure their place in the final merit list.
